LeBron Raymone James Sr. (born December 30 1984) was an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). King James is widely regarded as one of the top basketball players and is frequently called Michael Jordan when discussing the most famous player. The national media praised James as a possible NBA star. He was a pro-prep player and selected with the top choice from the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Draft in 2003. As the NBA rookie player in 2004, he established himself quickly as one the top players in the league, receiving the NBA MVP awards for the years 2009 and 2010. James signed a free-agent contract in 2010, after he failed to win championships with Cleveland. He made the decision to leave Cleveland in order to join Miami Heat, announced on the television show The Decision, is considered as one of the most controversial free-agent moves in sports history.
