Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She's also a seasoned public speaking. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of portrayals in popular cultures. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and an American feminist media critique. She is the founder and director of executive for Feminist Frequency which is an education not-for-profit site that examines the representation of women in popular stories of culture. Aiming to break down the stereotypes of women that have been portrayed in pop culture she also works to highlight issues related to targeted exploitation of women as well as other classes of individuals in the internet space. Sarkeesian, who holds an MA in the field of Social and Political Thought at York University, is a well-known public speaker. She has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Passionate about issues of gender and feminism since an early age she launched her own website Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was studying at the University. The ambitious lady planned to create an online series on gender representation in games, and was then the victim of an online harassment campaign. The attack did be a deterrent, but it was a boost to her determination as a feminist media critic. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards for her contribution to feminism.
